LinkedIn redesigns Company Pages to look like Facebook Timeline

LinkedIn announced it has introduced redesigned business profiles, which are officially known as Company Pages, to make them more helpful to users than they previously were.
However, one of the new features looks a lot like that of a LinkedIn competitor’s, and that’s because the professional social network has added new images to the top of Company Pages that look like the Cover Photos used by Facebook for user profiles and their business pages.

“We know a picture is worth a thousand words, so we’ve provided companies with the ability to easily add an image that best represents their company and brand,” LinkedIn said in a press release.

The new Company Pages are being rolled out slowly, starting with Philips, Citi, HP and Dell, the last of which you can see above. For comparison, here’s Dell’s Facebook Page. While the two are different, you can definitely see the resemblance.

As for other changes to Company Pages, LinkedIn has moved about summaries for businesses below the update stream, which has also been refreshed to ensure company updates reach users.

LinkedIn also updated its iPhone and Android apps. Users will now be able to see Company Pages on the mobile apps and they can receive notifications whenever anyone likes something they have posted, views their profiles, or accepts their invitations, among other actions.

Additionally, the company said users soon will be able to edit their profile from the mobile apps too.
