Bela Lugosi’s onetime castle for sale at $4.2 million

A Hollywood Hills home once owned by actor Bela Lugosi, who portrayed Count Dracula onstage and on-screen, is listed at $4.197 million.

Called Castle La Paloma, the 1920s brick Tudor has been restored and retains its classic details. Among architectural features are interior arches, original tile work, inlaid floors, vaulted beamed ceilings and bay windows.

The 5,000 square feet of living space include a roomy living room, a breakfast room, a butler’s pantry, five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms and a service wing.

The more than a quarter of an acre terraced site in the Beachwood Canyon area has an infinity swimming pool and a spa.

There are views of the Hollywood sign.

Lugosi, who died in 1956 at 73, played other villains besides the vampire count. He starred in “White Zombie” (1932), “Bride of the Monster” (1955) and the posthumously released “Plan 9 From Outer Space” (1959).

The property sold in three years ago for $2.25 million and has since been refurbished.
