That’s a relief: Retired pitcher finds a buyer for his custom home in Arizona
Retired relief pitcher Bob Howry, who played for such Major League teams as the Cubs, White Sox and Giants, has sold his home in Peoria, Ariz., for $1.975 million.
The expansive contemporary, built for the baseball player in 2008, looks like a vast warehouse in the desert from above with its flat roof covered in solar panels.
Inside, the open-space floor plan is set up for entertaining with a formal living room that opens to a center-island kitchen and breakfast area. A lower-level lounge comes complete a game/media room and wet bar. A home theater with tiered seating has a snack bar.
The 8,771 square feet of living space also include a formal dining room, an office, a gym, five bedrooms and six bathrooms.
The one-acre grounds contain a swimming pool with a beach entry, a spa and a putting green.
Howry, 45, appeared in 769 games during 13 MLB seasons. He retired in 2011.
George Laughton and Tiffany Gobster of My Home Group Real Estate were the listing agents. Troy Lee Jones with West USA Realty represented the buyer.
