The Doheny estate in Bel-Air has come on the market at $43 million, placing it within the Top 10 most expensive homes in Los Angeles County currently on the Multiple Listing Service.

Encompassing more than 3.5 acres, the gated estate takes its name from descendants of oil baron Edward L. Doheny, who successfully drilled the first well in Los Angeles in the late 1800s and sparked a boom.

The 10,000-square-foot mansion was home to the late William H. Doheny Sr. and his wife, Onnalee.
