Former home of ‘MASH’ writer Elias Davis is for sale in Hollywood Hills
A former home of television writer-producer Elias Davis and, before him, prolific filmmaker Charles Lamont and his wife, actress Estelle Bradley, has come to market in Hollywood Hills for $2.899 million.
Sitting beneath the Hollywood Sign, the Spanish Revival was home to Lamont, known for the “Abbott and Costello” films, and Bradley in the 1930s and ’40s. Davis, who wrote for the series “MASH” and “Mary Tyler Moore,” later owned the property for more than two decades before selling it in 1997 to Hollywood publicist Jeffrey Walker for $579,000.
More recently, the property changed hands in 2005 for $2.265 million and two years later for about $2.6 million, records show.
The 1920s residence, remodeled for contemporary living, retains a few of its classic details, including stenciled ceilings with exposed beams, decorative wrought ironwork and restored magnesite floors.
Within more than 4,000 square feet of living space is a living room with a fireplace, an updated kitchen, four bedrooms and four bathrooms. A formal dining room flows into a step-down family room/den. Another den/media room lies on the lower level and has French doors that open to the grounds.
Multiple patios, a viewing deck, lawns and mature landscaping fill out the 8,000-square-foot lot. A two-car garage sits off the front entrance.
