Onetime estate of comedian and actor Danny Thomas is on the market in Beverly Hills

A Beverly Hills mansion that just came on the market was once the home of late comedian and actor Danny Thomas, which would be enough on its own to garner notice. But also drawing attention is the price or lack thereof.

While officially listed as “price on request” on a John Aaroe Group website, the tag of $135 million was gingerly floated in a company release, attributing the figure to news reports.

The cagey approach underscores just how difficult it is to price a residential property in the upper reaches of the price stratum.

Encompassing more than 2 acres, the knoll-top site in Trousdale Estates is considered highly valuable in a luxury housing market where buyers covet expansive vistas. Panoramas from all sides of the mansion take in the cityscape and canyons.

Moorish arches frame the views and give the main house a distinctive look.

Inside, opulent rooms feature Baccarat chandeliers, gold-leaf ceilings and ornate tilework. Murals grace the walls and ceilings. A ballroom, a rotunda dining room, a media room, seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms are among the lavish interior spaces.

An expansive patio steps down to a swimming pool with a waterfall spa.

A motor court with a fountain as the focal point has parking for up to 20 vehicles. There are six garage spots.

Thomas, who died in 1991 at 79, starred in the sitcom “Make Room for Daddy” from 1953 to 1964. The popular television show was later renamed “The Danny Thomas Show” and in 1957 hopped networks from ABC to CBS.

The nightclub comedian also worked in radio and film during his five-decade career. He founded St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities.

The property has been substantially rebuilt since it was sold in 2000 for $15 million.
