Onetime Padres pitcher Ian Kennedy sheds his lair in Arizona
MLB pitcher Ian Kennedy has sold his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., for $1.71 million. The authentic Spanish- style house had come on the market in September at $1.775 million.
Set on nearly an acre in a gated equestrian community, the 1979 residence underwent a 3,000-square-foot addition in 2000 and an extensive renovation in 2014. Today it boasts six bedrooms, six bathrooms and 6,360 square feet of living space.
Saltillo tile floors, vaulted beamed ceilings and skylights are among the interior features. A morning room with a kiva fireplace adjoins the kitchen.
A den/office, an expansive game room and a media room are among the living spaces. A wraparound covered patio brings the outdoors in.
A resort-style heated pool, lawn, an outdoor seating area and a fireplace complete the backyard.
Kennedy, 33, plays for the Kansas City Royals. He has spent time with the New York Yankees, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres.
Sally Cashman of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent. Angela Zampino of HomeSmart represented the buyer.
The property previously sold in 2013 for $1.675 million.
