Pasadena address is where baseball great Jackie Robinson once lived
Except for the white-and-green diagonal stripes on the chain-link fence along the front of the property, this home in northwest Pasadena seems undistinguished from its neighbors.
The stucco-clad home has an open plan living layout, three bedrooms and less than 2,000 square feet of living space. The backyard is “drought-friendly” and lined by fruit trees.
But it’s not the house itself that has the claim to fame here. It’s the man who lived at the address from 1922 to 1946 – baseball great Jackie Robinson. A plaque notes his time at the property.
A top-notch second baseman, Robinson was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball. He is memorialized in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The current house, listed at $649,900, dates to 1977. The contemporary-style home features a newer kitchen with blue cabinetry, wood flooring and an enclosed patio.
The property previously sold in 2008 for $340,000, public records show.
