Kevin Durant sells Miami penthouse for nearly double what he paid

Chalk up a win in the real estate column for Kevin Durant: The NBA star has sold his penthouse in Miami for $3.15 million -- $1.325 million more than what he paid for the unit in 2011.

The 3,793-square-foot residence, completed last year, features a modern vibe with designer finishes, a tiled wall fireplace, smart-home systems and a private elevator.

Among living spaces is a chef’s kitchen with a tiled backsplash, open-area formal rooms and a home theater, three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. Walls of floor-to-ceiling glass and a large outdoor terrace take in expansive views of Biscayne Bay.

Durant, by way of a limited-liability company, acquired the property in 2011 for $1.825 million, records show. He had asked as much as $3.45 million for the property earlier this year.

Ben Moss of One Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Michael Light of Miami Luxury Homes represented the buyer, a Colombian businessman who intends to lease out the residence for $22,000 a month, according to the Miami Herald.

Durant, six times an all-star and the NBA’s most valuable player in 2014, had his season cut short in March because of an ailing right foot. The 26-year-old averaged 25.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 27 games this season.
