Mariel Hemingway cuts loose her park-like home near Calabasas
Mariel Hemingway, the actress-author and granddaughter of novelist Ernest Hemingway, has sold her home near Calabasas for $1.65 million.
Found in the unincorporated community of Monte Nido, the gated property centers on a ranch-style house that was built in 1959. Mature oaks dot the grounds and provide cover for amenities such as a climbing wall, an outdoor gym, a teepee and a saltwater swimming pool designed for skin rejuvenation.
The stone-and-wood-beamed house has a living room with a fireplace, a dining area, a sun room, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Sliding glass doors open to a wide porch that wraps around the exterior.
Organic garden beds, fruit trees and a chicken coop also lie within the grounds. Views take in a panorama of the Santa Monica Mountains.
The 54-year-old Hemingway has film credits that include “Lipstick” (1976) and “Manhattan” (1979), the latter for which she received an Oscar nomination. She is the author of books including “Out Came The Sun” and “Invisible Girl.”
The house came to market earlier this year for $1.95 million. It previously changed hands three years ago for $900,000, records show.
Sally Forster Jones and Shauna Walters of John Aaroe Group were the listing agents. Tracy Bunetta of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage represented the buyer.
