‘Avatar’ star Sam Worthington sells his spot on the Big Island
Actor Sam Worthington of “Avatar” fame has sold his estate on the North Shore of Kauai for $4.2 million.
Set on more than five acres in Kealia Makai, Hawaii, the Plantation-style home was designed by Charles W. Dickey and completed in 2008. One level of living takes in unobstructed ocean and mountain views.
Open-area interiors feature wood floors, skylights, a kitchen with a breakfast bar and a living/dining room. A wood lanai with an outdoor shower and lava rock garden sits between two master suites. In all, the home has three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in nearly 4,400 square feet of space.
Outside, tropical grounds center on a swimming pool and a sun deck. A motor court and a detached garage mark the entrance to the home.
An adjacent, six-acre parcel also owned by the actor sold the same day for $700,000.
Worthington bought the two properties in separate transactions in 2011 for a combined $6.1 million, records show.
Barbara Sloan of Coldwell Banker Bali Hai Realty was the listing agent. Michael Schmidt, also with Coldwell Banker, represented the buyer.
Worthington, 38, is known for his roles in “Avatar” as well as “Terminator Salvation” (2009), “Clash of the Titans” (2010) and the 2012 sequel “Wrath of the Titans.” He is set to appear in the disaster thriller “Everest,” due out later this year.
