Splashy Beverly Hills contemporary tops L.A.’s weekly sales
A designer showplace in Trousdale Estates, the onetime home of music producer Jerry Goldstein and a development opportunity in Malibu were among the top residential real estate sales in the greater Los Angeles area last week.
$11,375,000, Beverly Hills
A newly-built contemporary on more than half an acre in the 1600 block of Carla Ridge sold for $7.425 million more than what it went for in 2012 -- $3.95 million. The 5,428 square feet of open space are highlighted by gallery walls, rows of windows, high ceilings and formal areas that open to an infinity-edge pool and spa. A living room with a bar/lounge, a chef’s kitchen, a media room, an office/library, four bedrooms and five bathrooms are among the living spaces.
Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency was the listing agent. Josh Flagg of Rodeo Realty, Beverly Hills, represented the buyer in the sale.
$10,400,000, Pacific Palisades
The onetime home of music producer Jerry Goldstein, sited on nearly half an acre in the 800 block of Napoli Drive in Pacific Palisades, sold for $10.4 million after returning to the market in January at $10.995 million. Built in 2004, the Cape Cod-inspired Traditional features an 800-bottle wine cellar, a gym, a theater room and fireplaces in the family room, living room, library, master bedroom and master retreat. In all, there are seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms in 8,700 square feet.
Jay Luchs and Steven Schaefer of Newmark of Southern California had the listing. Jody Fine of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties represented the buyer.
$8,496,250, Hollywood Hills West
A modern compound in the 1500 block of Viewsite Drive in Hollywood Hills West sold for nearly $1 million less than the original asking price and $3,750 less than what it previously went for in 2013. Designed by architect Leonardo Umansky, the 5,725-square-foot home has a 50-foot dining/living room area, wood-lined sliding glass doors and an infinity-edge pool and spa overlooking the Sunset Strip. A 12-seat movie theater, a game room with a bar and a master retreat with a stone bathroom are among the features.
Brick Williams of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, and Ari Afshar of The Agency were the listing agents. Wendi Bromley of Keller Williams Beverly Hills was the selling agent.
$7,600,000, Beverly Crest
A gated Beverly Crest estate on a 1.4-acre promontory sold for $7.6 million, up nearly $3 million from its 2013 sale price of $3.69 million. Located in the 1900 block of Rial Lane, the residence is accessed by a private drive and overlooks the Stone Canyon Reservoir. A 5,808-square-foot home built in Mediterranean style, a pool and spa and a long view deck make up the grounds.
Sally Forster Jones and Joshua F. Smith of John Aaroe Group were the listing agents. Jamie Nugent and Steven Levine of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.
$5,273,440, Bel-Air
A French Riviera-inspired estate in the 1100 block of Stone Canyon Road, previously offered for lease at $28,000 a month, sold in about three months for slightly less than the asking price of $5.45 million. Within the 4,580 square feet of living space are grand formal areas set beneath truss beams, an open-area kitchen/family room and two master suites for five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. Provence-style gardens, an al fresco dining area, an outdoor fireplace and a fountain are within the more than half-acre grounds.
Ernie Carswell of Teles Properties and Ron de Salvo of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage shared the listing. Barbara Tenenbaum of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.
$5,000,000, Malibu
An oceanfront property on the 24000 block of Malibu Road sold in less than two months for $750,000 more than the asking price of $4.25 million. Expansive ocean views and 50 feet of frontage highlight the parcel, which currently contains a two-bedroom, one-bathroom beach cottage.
