Jazz musician Wayne Shorter lists his Hollywood Hills West home for sale

Influential jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter has put his home in Hollywood Hills West on the market for $3.495 million.

The multi-level home, built on a hillside of about a third of an acre in 1963, sits behind a gated entrance with sweeping canyon, city and ocean views.

Among the features are hardwood and tile floors, walls of built-in bookshelves and rows of French doors that bring the surrounding scenery inside. The 2,736 square feet of interior space includes a living room with a fireplace, a dining area and an updated kitchen. Doors off the common areas open to a canyon-facing patio/balcony.

The master suite — one of three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms — has a separate sitting area and its own private balcony.

Outdoors, a staircase leads down to a large deck that overlooks the canyon. A two-car garage sits off the entrance.

Shorter bought the house nine years ago for $2.19 million, records show.

Ben Bacal and David Ferrugio of Rodeo Realty hold the listing.

Shorter, 83, gained fame as a member of and composer for Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and, later on, Miles Davis’ second great quintet. A 10-time Grammy-winner, he later co-founded the Jazz fusion band Weather Report.
