Trio of ‘Real Housewives’ run the gamut in Los Angeles-area real estate
When it comes to the “Real Housewives” franchise, the drama isn’t limited to the television screen. Various cast members often provide real estate fodder, especially recently.
In Venice, Stephanie Hollman of “The Real Housewives of Dallas” has sold a newly transformed home for $5.61 million. That’s $625,000 over the asking price and nearly $4 million more than what Hollman and her husband, Dallas-based businessman Travis Hollman, paid for the property two years ago.
The 4,572-square-foot house, renovated by Venice-based home builder Kim Gordon, makes the most of indoor-outdoor living. Towering steel-framed windows bring in views of various outdoor spaces and leafy grounds; a rooftop patio tops the five-bedroom home.
Switching over to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” personality Lisa Vanderpump has made a move on a smaller scale. Vanderpump, whose credits also include the spinoff series “Vanderpump Rules,” has paid $630,000 for a condominium in West Hollywood.
The two-bedroom unit has a sophisticated vibe, with vibrant hues, decorative wallpaper and a range of tile work. An updated kitchen, a living room with a fireplace and two renovated bathrooms lie within nearly 1,000 square feet of living space. Two parking spaces were included in the sale.
Over on “The Real Housewives of Miami,” Lea Black and her husband, attorney Roy Black, have put their home in Hollywood Hills West up for sale at $2.895 million.
Built in 1959 and since renovated, the midcentury home has a polished look, with vibrant marble floors, mirrored walls and contemporary fixtures. Walls of floor-to-ceiling windows bring in views extending from downtown to Santa Catalina.
The 3,536-square-foot house was designed for entertaining and has open common areas, a family room with a wet bar, and a screening room with tiered seating. A spa-like bath done in decorative tile highlights the master suite.
Terrace balconies extend from each level of the home, extending the living space outside.
Steven Spreafico of Coldwell Banker and Barry Peele of Sotheby’s International Realty are the listing agents for the Blacks’ residence.
Shokoh Nasab of Keller Williams Realty held the listing for the condo. Jeffrey Hobgood represented Vanderpump in the sale.
Justin Alexander of Halton Pardee + Partners had Hollman’s listing. Tami Pardee, also of Halton Pardee + Partners, represented the buyer.
His next blockbuster will play out in Malibu
The Malibu home of blockbuster producer Joel Silver, whose credits include the “Lethal Weapon,” “Die Hard” and “Matrix” franchises, is on the market for $57.5 million.
Tucked behind gates in the Carbon Beach area, the 1930s two-story has a courtyard entry and 137 feet of beach frontage. The subdued interiors incorporate exposed brickwork, beamed ceilings and dark wood floors. Walls of floor-to-ceiling glass center on unobstructed ocean views.
The two-story floor plan contains a two-story great room, a dining room with a fireplace, a chef’s kitchen, five bedrooms and six bathrooms. A lofted office space sits above the living room, and the master suite has glass doors that open to a private balcony.
Outdoors, a large swath of brickwork surrounds the swimming pool and spa. A row of cabanas sits off one end of the tennis court. There’s also a detached guesthouse with two bedroom suites.
Silver bought the property more than a decade ago from late film producer Robert Chartoff, records show.
Judy Feder of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, holds the listing.
Silver, 64, has produced scores of films, including this year’s action-comedy “The Nice Guys.” His upcoming works include “Suburbicon,” a mystery-comedy written by the Coen brothers, and a reboot of the “Predator” franchise.
A closing act in Los Feliz
Sketch comic and actor Keegan-Michael Key of “Key and Peele” fame has sold his home in the historic Los Feliz neighborhood for $1.48 million.
Just outside Griffith Park, the 1960s house sits up from the street and is entered through a gated courtyard. Views from the multilevel home take in the cityscape, treetops and surrounding mountains.
Within the 2,600 square feet of interiors are a living room with a fireplace, a dining room and an open-plan kitchen. Sliding glass doors off the living room open to a balcony that spans the length of the second floor. The top-floor master suite has a glass-enclosed shower and a soaking tub, for a total of four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Outdoors, stone planters and gardens surround a patio and dining area. A swimming pool with a spa and waterfall feature also lies within the grounds.
The house previously sold a decade ago for $1.255 million, records show.
The 44-year-old Key is known for the Comedy Central series “Key and Peele,” which he co-wrote and starred in alongside comedian Jordan Peele. His other television credits include the sketch series “MadTV” and the sitcom “Playing House.” This year he starred in the film “Keanu.”
Whimsical style hits the right note
Singer-songwriter and composer Rufus Wainwright has bought a home in Hollywood Hills West for $1.45 million.
The 1920s home, set amid mature trees and lush landscaping, has such fanciful details as a brick facade, picture windows with diamond grilles and a steep stairway that leads up to the front door.
The storybook ambience continues indoors in the step-down living room, which boasts rolled ceilings, exposed beams and a fireplace with a brick surround. An updated kitchen, a breakfast nook, a dining room, a circular office/den, three bedrooms and three bathrooms are also within more than 2,100 square feet of living space.
Outdoors, a whimsical bridge crosses over a pond to one of two patio spaces. Views from the property take in the surrounding treetops and mountains.
Anita Rich of Keller Williams represented the buyer and the seller, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
The Canadian-born Wainwright, 43, has released live and studio albums including the Grammy-nominated record “Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall.” This year he released “Take All My Loves: 9 Shakespeare Sonnets,” a tribute album commemorating the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death.
