Fail Blog’s best of 2012: Honey Boo Boo, nauseated Bieber, more
The Fail Blog -- the popular website that bills itself as featuring “the well-intentioned failing at something they are supposed to do, or displaying blatant stupidity or incompetence” -- has come out with its lists of the best of 2012. At the very top? Honey Boo Boo.
Ben Huh, founder of Cheezburger, the company that publishes Fail Blog, said of the Honey Boo Boo clan, stars of their own TLC reality show: “Their social dysfunction is off the charts.”
“Personally, I’d skip the Go-Go Juice,” Huh said in a news release, “but after all, who couldn’t use an extra thumb for cheeseballs?”
Cheezburger, with sites including I Can Has Cheezburger?, Know Your Meme and Memebase, boasts 25 million users, with 535,000 photos and videos uploaded monthly. Fail turned to its fan base to vote on the “biggest Fail moments, the biggest Fail people and the biggest Fail videos” of 2012.
Appearing on these lists -- or the site -- is a decidedly dubious honor.
Among the top 5 Fail people, after Honey Boo Boo Child, was Kristen Stewart. Stewart -- the actress famously linked with “Twilight” costar Robert Pattinson -- made the list for what Stewart herself termed a “momentary indiscretion” with the married director of her film “Snow White and the Huntsman,” Rupert Sanders.
After Stewart on the Fail list: the NFL replacement referees, for their notorious blown calls; Patricia Krentcil, better known as “Tanning Mom”; and Mitt Romney, for his caught-on-camera comments about the “47%.”
Topping the Fail “moments” list: Justin Bieber throwing up onstage. And for most memorable photos and videos, No. 1 was “Goose Attack,” a video made hilarious more by the on-tape laughter than the man flailing at the goose.
