Google begins shipping Nexus 7
Google has begun shipping units of its tablet, the Nexus 7.
The company announced the news on its Google Play account on Google+ complete with a picture of a boxed-sealed Nexus 7 in an opened shipping box.
“Locked and loaded, ready to play: we’ve started shipping +Nexus 7 pre-orders today!” the company posted Friday morning.
Google said the shipments include the first wave of Nexus 7 orders and will arrive in the next three business days, in a statement to AndroidPolice.
“Once your order has shipped you will receive a confirmation email and tracking number,” the company said in the statement. “Though our agents are unable to provide a specific delivery date for individual pre-orders, please rest assured that our shipping team is working to fulfill all orders as quickly as possible.”
Google announced and began taking preorders for the Nexus 7 last month.
The company developed the 7-inch screen tablet; Asus manufactures it. The Nexus 7 has a 1,280 by 800 pixel HD display and a powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor.
The tablet is available for about $200 from Google for the 8 GB version and about $250 for a 16 GB version.
Staples and GameStop also are selling the Google tablet, which runs on the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean.
