Jimmy Kimmel does it again, says iPad mini is the iPhone 5s [Video]

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel loves pranking people, especially if an Apple product is involved, and his latest stunt may be his funniest yet.

The comedian had “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” staffers interview people in Hollywood asking them what they thought about the new iPhones announced by Apple on Tuesday. The staffers handed the interviewees the “new iPhone,” which in fact was the iPad mini tablet.

“While Technophiles will probably be up all night analyzing every detail of the new phones, I believe that most people will not be able to tell the difference between the new models and the old models,” he says in the video.

And as Kimmel suspected, people couldn’t tell the difference and they simply raved about what they believed was the latest iPhone.

One guy actually held the tablet to his ear like a phone while many of the people interviewed said they thought the “iPhone” was lighter than previous models, even though the iPad mini they were holding weighs nearly three times as much as the previous iPhone model.

The highlight of the prank, though, comes toward the end of the video when the staffer convinces one of the people being interviewed that there is a new “click it and lick it” feature, meaning users can tap a button and then lick the screen to taste different flavors.

Though the woman being interviewed hesitates, she eventually licks the tablet.

“I can’t really taste it,” the woman says before licking the iPad mini a second time.

“Oh, I can taste it!” she says after a second try, even though “click it and lick it” is not a real feature. “Oh, that’s so weird.”

The prank is pretty funny, but it’s not the first time Kimmel has done this to Apple fans.

When the iPhone 5 came out last year, his staffers gave people they interviewed the old iPhone 4S and told them it was the new model.

Kimmel and crew did the same a few months later when the iPad mini came out. In that prank, the staffers fooled people into thinking the iPhone 5 was the iPad mini.
