MetroPCS, the nation’s fifth largest carrier, introduced a new promotion Tuesday that offers customers a $55 monthly unlimited everything plan.

The offer is available starting Thursday for a limited time, but anyone who signs up will get to keep the plan beyond that. The unlimited plan, which includes 4G LTE service, is currently the cheapest available of its kind.

Neither Verizon nor AT&T; offer a plan like it.T-Mobile offers a similar plan for $79.99, but it begins to throttle data speeds after 2 GB of use. Sprint does offer the same kind of plan, but it costs about $110 a month.

Although the promotional MetroPCS plan may be the cheapest, its speed quality is subpar. While MetroPCS claims average speeds of 3 to 5 mps, AT&T; and Verizon say their 4G LTE speeds range between 5 and 12 mps on average, according to the Associated Press.

Normally, MetroPCS offers its unlimited everything plan for $70 a month. It also offers a $50 monthly plan that includes 2.5 GB of data, according to AP.

MetroPCS said it does not know when it will end the promotional plan.

But along with the promotional plan, MetroPCS also introduced a new phone, the LG Motion 4G, Tuesday that will be available next week.

The LG Motion 4G is the first Ice Cream Sandwich Android phone carried by MetroPCS. The phone, which goes for $149, has a 3.5-inch screen and 5 GB of storage.

The phone runs on a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and has both a front and back camera. MetroPCS said it is unsure if the phone will receive a Jelly Bean update.
