Elected official takes oath of office on an iPad

In what may be a first, an elected New York official was sworn in Thursday by a judge using an Apple iPad.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano took the oath of office on an iPad containing a Bible when a printed version could not be located, according to Newsday, which has footage of the ceremony.

Although it may have been first time that an elected official was sworn in with an iPad, it was not the first time that the Apple tablet was used for taking the oath for a job.

That distinction appears to belong to a group of New Jersey firefighters who were promoted to new jobs within the Atlantic City Fire Department. The iPad was used after no one remembered to bring a Bible to their promotion ceremony.
