Sprint to roll out early-upgrade plan

Just in time for the latest iPhones, Sprint will reportedly be launching its own early upgrade program later this month.

The program is called One Up and is scheduled to start Sept. 20, the day the new iPhones are to come out, according to CNET. The website said the program will make it possible for users to get new smartphones with no money down, and then to upgrade once a year by trading their devices in.

Although Sprint has not confirmed the program, CNET reported that One Up customers will pay for their devices over 24 monthly installments. Each payment will be $27 for top-of-the-line devices such as the new iPhone 5s, it said.

Users who sign up for One Up will get a $15 discount on their service plan, and the program will work with Sprint’s Unlimited, My Way and All-In plans, according to CNET.

Sprint officials could not be reached for comment.

Sprint is the latest to jump on the early-upgrade-plan bandwagon, after its three main rivals all launched programs earlier this year.

T-Mobile was the first to start the craze when it announced Jump in July. Not long after, AT&T and Verizon followed with plans of their own. You can see how those three plans compare.
