San Francisco fans seem most confident about a Super Bowl trip
With less than three weeks to go before Super Bowl XLVIII in East Rutherford, N.J., San Francisco football fans seem most confident about a trip to the championship game.
Bay Area residents lead all others in searching for travel deals to accompany their beloved 49ers to MetLife Stadium for the big game Feb. 2.
That was one of the findings by the travel website Priceline.com one day after the NFL playoffs narrowed down the Super Bowl contenders to the 49ers, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos.
Football fans from Denver had the second-highest number of searches for travel deals to the New Jersey area, followed by Seattle and Boston area fans, according to Priceline.com.
As of Sunday, search activities to the New Jersey area for the weekend of Feb. 1-2 had already doubled from a week earlier.
Search activity for flights from San Francisco to the New Jersey area have been strong for the last week, but Denver search numbers jumped sharply after Sunday’s victory over the San Diego Chargers, the website said.
But the search activity for Boston and Seattle area fans dropped off after Sunday, a sign that fans may be less optimistic about the chances the Patriots and the Seahawks will have against their next opponents, the website suggested.
