It was deja vu on Saturday as the Screen Actors Guild Awards recognized almost all the same performers as the Golden Globe Awards and Emmy Awards last month.

“Oppenheimer” reigned in three of the film categories, furthering its front-runner status heading into the Oscars on March 10. The HBO drama “Succession,” the FX/Hulu comedy “The Bear” and the Netflix limited series “Beef” dominated the TV side.

Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri picked up individual prizes and “The Bear” won ensemble in a comedy series. “Succession” had “one last hurrah,” capping off its critically acclaimed final season with a drama series win.

In one of the few surprises of the night, Pedro Pascal took home the statue for male actor in a drama series for his role on HBO’s post-apocalyptic show “The Last of Us.” Elizabeth Debicki nabbed the same prize for her nuanced performance as Princess Diana in “The Crown,” delivering another win for ceremony host Netflix, which streamed the SAG Awards live for the first time. The new platform and format could provide a boon for the awards show, which had seen ratings decline on TNT and TBS.

The ceremony was the first since SAG-AFTRA reached a deal with the major studios to end its historic strike and ratified a new contract. In acknowledging the historic moment, SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher delivered another fiery speech — and warned against artificial intelligence: “AI will entrap us in a matrix where none of us know what’s real.”

The best fashion from the 2024 SAG Awards red carpet, from Margot Robbie and Brie Larson, to Anne Hathaway and Ali Wong.

“You survived the longest strike in our union’s history with courage and conviction,” she said. “Your collective dignity and perseverance to stand up and say, ‘We deserve better because we are better,’ resulted in a historic billion-dollar deal. Your solidarity ignited workers around the world, triggering what forever will be remembered as the hot labor summer.”
