Jeff Goldblum heading off-Broadway for Bruce Norris’ ‘Domesticated’

Bruce Norris, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright of “Clybourne Park,” opened his metaphysical drama “A Parallelogram” at the Mark Taper Forum on Sunday. The busy New York writer already has his eye on his next play, the politically themed “Domesticated,” which begins performances at Lincoln Center in October.

Producers of “Domesticated” announced on Sunday that Jeff Goldblum will star alongside the previously announced Laurie Metcalf. The play follows a political couple whose relationship is tested in the wake of a scandal.

Goldblum appeared at the Ahmanson Theatre last season in Theresa Rebeck’s “Seminar,” playing an arrogant and randy literary celebrity who stoops to teaching an adult writing class.

“Domesticated,” which officially opens Nov. 4 at the off-Broadway Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre, will reteam Norris with Anna D. Shapiro, who has directed “A Parallelogram” in Chicago at the Steppenwolf Theatre and in Los Angeles, and who won a Tony for directing “August: Osage County” on Broadway.

Earlier this year, Norris debuted his play “The Low Road” at London’s Royal Court Theatre. The play is a historical ensemble piece about capitalism and religion in colonial America.
