Tony Awards 2013: Nominees react with glee on Twitter
Within minutes after they were nominated for Tony awards Tuesday morning, Cyndi Lauper, Harvey Fierstein and Lin-Manuel Miranda were among the nominees tweeting their reactions.
Lauper, the ‘80s pop goddess, received her first Tony nomination for writing the words and music for “Kinky Boots,” which received the most nods overall with 13. She quickly sent out two tweets.
”OmG! OMG!! wow we got nominated!! @KinkyBootsBway !!! OMG!!!”
“I’m crying and jumping up and down! I can’t believe it so excited! @KinkyBootsBway !! So proud to be part of this! Thank you Harvey!xxx”
Lauper’s Harvey, of course, is her fellow nominee and Broadway vet Fierstein, who wrote the book for “Kinky Boots.”

Fierstein, an entertaining presence on Twitter, wrote:
“EVERYBODY SAY YEAH!!!! KINKY BOOTS had us a good morning. Congrats to all.”
Also entertaining and very prolific on Twitter is Tony-winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the score for the cheerleading tale “Bring It On,” a nominee for best musical. Seems the reaction in the Miranda home startled their pup.
“My wife & I went FULL Bill & Ted just now ‘WhhooooaaaA!’ Thanks for remembering Andy! Happy Happy Happy. #BRINGITON”

No early reaction from acting nominee Tom Hanks but his “Lucky Guy” co-star Courtney B. Vance tweeted happiness for his featured acting nominee and paid tribute to the play’s late author, Nora Ephron.
“We are all so very thankful & grateful to #GeorgeCWolfe & #NoraEphron – HER SPIRIT LIVES!!!!! @LuckyGuyPlay”
