News channel Al Jazeera America said it is adding new staff, programming and additional bureaus just two months after the network made its debut.

“More people and more bureaus plus our new programming will help us keep the promise we made to our viewers about always providing the highest possible quality journalism,” said Al Jazeera America President Kate O’Brian.

Among the shows Al Jazeera America will launch is a new morning program, a weekly sports program and a pop culture show.

Al Jazeera America interim Chief Executive Ehab Al Shihabi said the results from the network’s first two months have been strong, which motivated the decision to increase spending. Distribution of the channel also got a big boost earlier this month when Time Warner Cable finally reached a deal to carry it on its systems around the country, including New York and Los Angles.

The network already has a dozen bureaus around the country, not just in major media markets. Al Jazeera America did not say where or how many new bureaus it would open. Al Jazeera is also going to move into a larger headquarters in midtown Manhattan.
