The pay hike occurred in a year in which the Glendale film studio faced numerous challenges. The company overhauled its film operations in the wake of a series of box-office flops, including “Turbo” and “Penguins of Madagascar,” and reduced its output to only two films a year. The company also cut 500 jobs and closed its Redwood City, Calif., animation studio.
DreamWorks’ financial picture brightened last year. Its revenue in 2015 was $916 million, a 33.8% increase over $685 million in 2014. The company lost $53.9 million, but that was a significant improvement over the $308 million net loss in 2014.
The studio’s stock increased 15% in 2015 compared with the previous year when investors fled, causing shares to drop 37.1%.
