Megyn Kelly delivers for Fox News

Megyn Kelly is making the schedulers at Fox News look pretty smart.

In her second day as host of the new 9 p.m. prime-time news magazine “The Kelly File,” she averaged 2.8 million viewers and easily won the 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen. In both categories, the show beat the combined competition from CNN and MSNBC.

Kelly, who previously hosted a daytime show for Fox News, also improved greatly on her already solid Monday night premiere numbers. She was up 34% in viewers and 116% in the 25-54 demographic, which is considered the most valued audience for news programming. Most important, she is doing better than the previous occupant of that time slot -- Sean Hannity.

To accommodate Kelly, Fox News shifted Hannity to 10 p.m. and moved Greta Van Susteren to 7 p.m. Both Van Susteren and Hannity have boosted Fox News’ ratings in those time slots.
