Kerry Washington, Queen Gladiator of ABC’s hit drama “Scandal,” joined us for a video chat Wednesday evening in which she talked about playing the impeccably dressed, don’t-mess-with-me crisis management fixer Olivia Pope on the highly buzzed series.

The 36-year-old actress reflected on her initial thoughts on the show’s premise, the many inflictions she worked through to achieve the perfect “Dad?” in the gasp-worthy Season 2 finale, her thoughts on the Thursday drama’s chance in the Emmy race (unfortunately the answer did not involve “If you want me, earn me!”) -- and whether she’d give politics a shot.

In trying to capture the phenomenon surrounding the show, particularly on social media, Times TV critic Mary McNamara noted that Gladiators (how the show’s legion of fans refer to themselves) “reject the DVR experience to watch ‘Scandal’ in real time, creating an enormous digital version of college friends arranging their schedules around a beloved daytime drama.”

Which partly explains why those friends are having such a hard time enduring the summer months devoid of new episodes. For those looking for a “Scandal” fix to carry them over until the new season starts this fall, Washington suggested getting acquainted with previous projects from the show’s key players.

Or, hey, maybe watch the video above on loop?
