Amanda Bynes shaves half of her head, announces ‘new me’

Amanda Bynes has shaved half her head. Yes, this is the latest twist in her hair-raising saga.

“I buzzed half my head like @cassie! No more old photos! This is the new me! I love it!” the former actress tweeted with a photo of the new ‘do. She posted another selfie smiling and showing off her nearly bare left side of her scalp.

Of course she’s referring to “Me & U” singer Cassie, though many reports and followers are saying she looks more like Miley Cyrus -- observations that Bynes happily retweeted.

She isn’t the first female celeb to buzz off her locks. Cyrus, Rihanna, Avril Lavigne, Amber Rose and Lady Gaga have shorn their tresses in recent years. And who can forget that Britney Spears did something similar circa her erratic meltdown years...

Bynes previously sported long, super-blond tresses that she claimed a hair stylist “fried” with bleach and lied to InTouch magazine about.

The 27-year-old former actress has been recast as a Twitter sensation in recent months because of such antics, including bleaching her hair, posting gratuitous selfies and railing against the media.

Bynes has also had her share of legal woes involving alleged hit-and-runs and driving without a license. She’s reached out via Twitter to President Obama to fire a cop who pulled her over, and her reported antics at a tanning salon — she denied the episode — definitely raised eyebrows. The reclusive actress has stepped out lately but has piled on reports of bizarre behavior by posting unusual photos of herself, debuting fashion statements and inner workings.

“I’m obsessed with myself on twitter,” Bynes said in mid-April, as part of a longer, somewhat unprintable rant to Complex magazine.

Truer, and more profound, things have definitely been said.
