Singer Austin Mahone in hospital for blood clot, fever; delays tour

Singer Austin Mahone was hospitalized this week for what is being reported as a blood clot, extremely high fever and inflammation, according to several reports.

The YouTube sensation, who spent his summer touring with pop crooners Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, had a 104-degree fever when he was hospitalized Thursday morning and is being treated for a blood clot, “extreme inflammation” in his throat, and severe dehydration, his rep told E! News and TMZ.

There is no word on what caused the emergency, TMZ said.

The “What About Love” singer shared a photo of himself Thursday in a hospital gown and hooked up to a an IV.

“I’ve never felt so bad,” the 17-year-old wrote.

The illness also caused the postponement of his MTV Artist to Watch Presents tour to 2014, following the postponement of his Miami and Orlando shows earlier this week.

His rep told E! News that he is “now on strict doctor’s orders to stay on rest and will need to reschedule all dates on the tour,” which featured support artists Becky G, Midnight Red and W3 the Future.

Mahone’s mother, Michele, took to her son’s Twitter account to update fans on his health.

“Hey Mahomies its @michelemahone Austin is very ill. Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone the entire MTV Artist to Watch Tour,” she wrote Thursday.

“Austin is very upset about this & we want to say we are sorry to all the Mahomies & their parents who have made arrangements to come out,” she said, adding, “We feel very bad but we have no choice but to POSTPONE the tour for now. Thank you for your prayers #PrayforAustin.”

Fans have used the hashtag to send their love and prayers to the singer.
