Cuba Gooding Jr.’s wife of 20 years files for separation

Cuba Gooding Jr. and his wife have separated, according to several reports out Wednesday.

The Academy Award-winner, 46, and Sara Kapfer have been married for 20 years, People, TMZ and Us Weekly said, with Kapfer filing for legal separation in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday.

She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

The pair were high school sweethearts and wed in 1994. They have three children together.

Schoolteacher Kapfer has reportedly filed for joint legal and physical custody of their two minor children, Mason, 17, and Piper, 8. Their eldest son, Spencer, is 19 and in college.

She’s also reportedly asking for spousal support.

Just this January, the “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” actor was gushing to the ladies of “The View” that he considered himself “lucky” to be among those with long-lasting marriages in the industry, revealing that his secret was that his wife has been “five girls all in one.”

“She has been changing into this other woman that I have to introduce myself to every few years and thank God I’ve fallen in love with each one. I’m lucky that way,” the “Jerry Maguire” alum said, adding, “Oh, I want to kill her sometimes and she puts up with me!”
