Kelly Ripa rocks a new bob hairdo — no matter what mom thinks

Kelly Ripa, who’s had long blond hair for the longest time, debuted a new shorter bob haircut Tuesday morning on “Live With Kelly and Michael.”

“Back in the saddle........with a new cut!” Ripa tweeted in the early morning hours after the Labor Day holiday.

She joked with cohost Michael Strahan about his look compared to hers after a two-week break: “You went two weeks with no haircut, and I went two weeks with four haircuts.”

Reaction from fans on Twitter was overwhelmingly positive, except for a handful of people who wondered why Ripa’s hair was such big news. Hey, in the face of what’s going on internationally, why not take a break for a little style dish, right?

At a Labor Day weekend gathering, Ripa said, Katie Couric even took time to restyle the ‘do, because she thought it looked too “newscaster-y.” So she made it more edgy.

Turns out there’s one person who doesn’t like Kelly’s new look: her mother.

“Ahhh, why did you do that? It looks terrible!” the host quoted her mom as saying in a phone call they had after Ripa had done the deed.

“You haven’t seen it yet,” the host said. “How would you know?

“She goes, ‘I don’t need to see it to know I don’t like it. You know I’m a long-hair girl.’”

Well, this might be one time mother doesn’t know best.
