Kardashian-West wedding site revealed? Plus: An intimate detail
It’s finally gone public: Kim Kardashian’s and Kanye West’s May 24 wedding and reception will be held at the Belvedere Fort in Florence, Italy, according to a spokeswoman with that city’s mayor’s office.
Feeling all fancy? Then call it the Forte di Belvedere o di San Giorgio Firenze.
To play it safe, we should probably say this is the best current thinking. After all, this is Kim and Kanye we’re talking about. Believe it when you see it. Even if the bride has declared you won’t see the actual wedding on reality TV.
A Protestant minister will do the honors, Florence spokeswoman Elisa Di Lupo told the Associated Press on Friday in a phone interview. The site, which has sweeping views of the city and the Tuscan hills, dates back to 1590 and is next to the Boboli Gardens and near the Arno River.
West explained his love for Florence in a recent interview with Italy’s La Nazione (via Us Weekly). Seems a little sumpin’-sumpin’ got started there: the couple’s baby girl.
“I think that our daughter North was conceived here among the Renaissance masterpieces,” West said. “It was our first honeymoon. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world -- for me the most beautiful in Europe.”
We won’t tell him that a honeymoon technically happens after the wedding. Let’s assume there was something lost in translation? And we’ll take a moment to erase the mental picture of the moment of conception.
Back to the wedding: The date seemed to be confirmed last week when Us Weekly published a photo of what it claimed was the invitation. The invite, on simple gray linen card stock with gold lettering, was a refreshing change from the bedazzled creation that announced Kardashian’s pending nuptials to her now ex-husband Kris Humphries. In addition to announcing a black-tie wedding, “Details upon arrival,” it invited guests to a pre-wedding dinner to be held in Paris the night ahead of the big event.
But the simplicity and casual cast of the creation, along with its break from traditional Kardashian style, raised cries of “fake” -- and when it comes to “facts” circulated about the Kimye wedding, that’s not exactly out of the question.
Kardashian herself took to Twitter last week to debunk rumors about her dress and a reported 1,600-person guest list. And no, she noted, she and West weren’t married yet, despite the late-April rumor that they were getting hitched first in a private civil ceremony in Los Angeles that week.
The reality-TV diva has officially donned white once already in the lead-up to the wedding: She celebrated her baby shower last Saturday at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, rocking a Chanel dress and Jimmy Choo shoes. A few shots from the celebration even made it to Instagram.
Of course, she’s also done the long-white-gown thing twice previously, for walks down the aisle with NBA player Humphries and before that with music producer Damon Thomas.
