Miley Cyrus welcomes a new month -- and with luck, a better one

Miley Cyrus welcomed the month of May on Thursday by posting a rainbow on Twitter, noting that her April had been a real piece of, um, well, just an extremely bad month.

It’s hard to argue with her: In one short month, her dog Floyd died, she came down with a bad sinus infection while on tour, she had to give away a new dog her mom had given her after Floyd’s passing, and then she wound up in the hospital for more than a week thanks to a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotic prescribed to treat that sinus infection.

She had to cancel a couple of shows, then postponed the rest of the U.S. shows that were on tap before she would hop to Europe to launch a leg of her “Bangerz” tour there.

April was then capped off in grand style with a setback related to her previous allergic reaction, which resulted in the postponement of her first two overseas dates, originally set for this Friday and Sunday.

“After a period of improvement, Cyrus’ symptoms have returned and Doctor’s will not permit her to travel,” read a note on posted on her website Wednesday. “This type of extreme reaction can last up to 27 days and Cyrus must remain under Doctor’s care at this time.”

So Amsterdam and Antwerp, Belgium, will have to wait until June to see the pop star play, but as of Thursday she was planning to take the stage Tuesday at London’s O2 Arena.

Cyrus on Monday added more domestic dates to her tour. In August she’ll hit Pittsburgh and Chicago, along with the rest of the cities she had to skip during her horrible April.
