Randy Jackson’s wife files for divorce from 12-year ‘Idol’ judge
Randy Jackson -- the guy from “American Idol” and Journey, not the guy from the Jackson 5 -- is going to be a single man, dawg: Erika Jackson, his wife of almost 19 years, filed for divorce on Friday in L.A.
She’s asking him to pay her legal fees and wants spousal support, according to documents obtained by TMZ, which first reported the news. She also wants sole physical and joint legal custody of their son Jordan, who turns 18 next June. Their daughter Zoe is no longer a minor.
Plus, plan to call her Erika Riker in the future, as she wants to have her maiden name reinstated.
The date of separation is listed as Sept. 11, a little over two weeks ago. The couple’s December 1995 wedding was Randy Jackson’s second; he’d previously been married to Elizabeth Jackson, who’s mother to his daughter Taylor.
The 58-year-old was a judge for 12 seasons on “American Idol,” where he called people “dawg” on more than his fair share of occasions. He was a mentor during the show’s 13th season earlier this year.
He played bass in the band Journey in the mid-’80s and has recorded and toured with the late Jerry Garcia, Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen and Madonna. Jackson is also a music producer.
