Shakira’s not yet a mommy, but Gerard Pique’s definitely a joker

Shakira is not yet a mommy, no matter what her partner, Gerard Pique, might say.

“Ya ha nacido nuestro hijo!” Pique wrote Thursday in his native Spanish on Twitter, announcing the “birth” of the couple’s new son. “Estamos muy felices! Gracias a todos por vuestros mensajes!” (Roughly translated, that’s, “We’re very happy, thanks to everyone for the messages.”)

So, was it baby time? Not exactly. Just the father-to-be taking part in a little local tradition.

Again tweeting in Spanish, the soccer player said 10 hours later (translated): “We have a name! He’s called Inocencia! Happy Dia de los Inocentes to everyone!”

The singer’s rep confirmed the prank, telling “Entertainment Tonight,” “Yesterday was Dia de los Inocentes [Day of the Innocents], which is similar to April Fool’s. She hasn’t had the baby yet.”

The couple, who shared an ultrasound of their son early in December, have not yet announced when the baby is due.
