Actress Vanessa Williams marries for a third time
Vanessa Williams has wed for a third time.
The “Ugly Betty” alum married Jim Skrip in front of family and friends on the Fourth of July, her rep confirmed to The Times on Monday.
People first reported the news and Entertainment Tonight obtained photos of Williams as a bride.
ET reported that the wedding took place at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo, N.Y. -- Skrip’s hometown.
The singer, 52, wore a fitted, sleeveless gown that was accented with a thick gold belt and carried a lush bouquet.
Her three daughters -- Melanie, Jillian and Sasha -- served as bridesmaids, and she and her groom rode off in a Rolls-Royce after the ceremony, ET said.
The pageant queen met Skrip, a former accountant, while vacationing with her daughter in Egypt.
She announced her engagement last September during an appearance on “The Queen Latifah Show” and opened up to Madam Noire about her “hometown guy” in April.
“There’s always hope. You never know what you’ll find and where you’ll find it,” she told the mag. “I was on vacation with my daughter going to Egypt, cruising on the Nile. I wasn’t looking for anything. I’d been alone for a number of years and divorced for ten years at that time.”
She said that Skrip, who was from her mother’s hometown of Buffalo, had been traveling alone, and though he knew who she was, he “wasn’t a super fan.”
“He accepted me for who I was after a wonderful first three-hour date of talking about ourselves. We found out we had a lot of things in common. Three years later we’re getting married,” she said.
The “Soul Food” star was wed to her former manager, Ramon Hervey II, from 1987 to 1997. They had three kids together: Son Devin and daughters Melanie and Jillian. Williams married then-Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox in 1999 and the pair had Sasha. They divorced in 2004.
