One Direction’s Zayn Malik is engaged to Perrie Edwards

One Direction fans’ hearts are breaking all over the world: Zayn Malik is engaged.

Malik, 20, a member of the Brit boy band, proposed to singer Perrie Edwards on Aug. 16, according to Us Weekly.

Whether he’s the heartthrob or the bad boy, we’re not sure. But we do know he’s the brunet, scruffy-faced one.

“Zayn and Perrie are engaged, but any further detail regarding their relationship is private,” a label rep told People.

Rumors of the engagement reached a fever pitch Wednesday when a sparkly three-stone ring adorned Edwards’ ring finger at the London premiere of the band’s documentary, “One Direction: This Is Us.” (You know, the same documentary Harry Styles’ ex Taylor Swift was cut out of?)

Edwards, 20, is a member of Little Mix, a girl group that was assembled in 2011 after Season 8 of the UK’s “X Factor.”

The day after the premiere, her mother Debbie Duffy confirmed the rumors in an interview with Real Radio North East’s Gary and Lisa Show.

“It’s true. They got engaged on Sunday and it was absolutely lovely and, you know, I feel ... it’s wonderful because Zayn’s absolutely gorgeous and Perrie loves him to pieces and it’s just perfect!” she said. “They just get on so well together and they understand each other so it’s just fabulous!”

Apparently Malik asked Duffy’s permission to marry her daughter too.

“He did the traditional asking me and then asking his mum and dad and everything, and it was fabulous, just lovely,” she said. “I was like a little emotional and, like, ahhhhhh, it was so lovely and I just thought it was adorable.”

The pair began dating in December 2011 after they met on “X Factor” but the relationship became official in April 2012, Us Weekly reports. The pair moved in together last February.

The two arrived and sat together at Monday’s screening, according to People, and were spotted together at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Aug. 11.
