New interactive ‘Avatar’ exhibition opens in Taiwan
“Avatar” fans have a while to wait until James Cameron’s planned sequels hit theaters, but they now have a new way to be immersed in the film’s tropical moon world Pandora. The interactive “Avatar: Discover Pandora” exhibition has opened in Taipei.
The new attraction presents Pandora as a real place and gives visitors a hands-on opportunity to learn more about the science and wonder of the Na’vi homeworld. Fans of Cameron’s 2009 film will be able to experience familiar settings such as the Hallelujah Mountains and Tree of Souls, and check out life-sized re-creations of creatures such as the Banshee, Direhorse and Viperwolf.
An educational exhibit, “Discover Pandora” will feature displays that highlight Pandora’s flora and fauna, animals, Na’vi culture, space travel and the history behind the alien moon’s discovery. Visitors will even have a chance to learn how to operate an AMP suit.
“So much of what we learn about Pandora can inspire us to be more curious and thoughtful about the world around us,” said Lightstorm Entertainment president of franchise development Kathy Franklin in a release. “This exhibition gives us the opportunity to take guests on a fascinating journey that we hope will give them new insights about both the rich and detailed alien world created in ‘Avatar’ and the amazing Earth we all share.”
