Election day is Tuesday, and while Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are furiously campaigning last minute for votes, not everyone in the electorate has been happy with the candidates put forward by the two major parties.

For those looking for an alternative, residents of Bangor, Maine, are offering their own political outsider: Pennywise.

Yes, Pennywise, the scary dancing clown who preys on children by exploiting their fears in Stephen King’s novel “It.”

Granted, there’s no way to be absolutely sure that Pennywise is specifically running for president. But according to the Bangor Daily News, “Vote Pennywise” signs have been popping up in King’s hometown, including on the prolific horror scribe’s own lawn.

While it’s uncertain exactly how many voters may ultimately be swayed by this campaign, King has revealed that his dog Molly is at least one convert.

It’s hard to predict what exactly a Pennywise presidency would look like, or how often he would even leave the sewers after taking office. Hopefully, those from all sides of the political spectrum can unite to keep that nightmare from becoming a reality.
