Eyes on Cuba Photographer Alex Harris, whose work is featured in the current Getty exhibition “A Revolutionary Project: Cuba From Walker Evans to Now,” and the anthropologist Ruth Behar, who has documented her journeys to Cuba in writing and on film, will discuss what has drawn them to the island and how their work gives voice to the Cuban people and way of life. Thao and the Get Down Stay Down Fronted by the charismatic vocals of Thao Nguyen, this folksy rock trio makes their Royce Hall debut as part of a free concert for UCLA students. The SF-based band will play after a set by SXSW buzz band Morning Teleportation, which brings an eclectic mix of banjo, talk-box, synthesizer, trumpet, and theremin to the stage. Buffalo Tom The popular alt-rock band that formed in 1986 and recorded two albums with production done by with Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis is coming back around.
