Quick Takes: Where Sarah Palin is running

Next month’s battle of the Sarah Palins on cable TV could be flippin’ awesome.

The scrappy Reelz network announced Tuesday that a pro-Palin documentary about the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate, “The Undefeated,” will air March 11 — one day after “Game Change,” HBO’s dramatization of the 2008 presidential campaign.

Steve Bannon, writer-director of “The Undefeated,” said Reelz chose to run his documentary “as a kind of counterweight to the HBO film,” which stars Julianne Moore as Palin and Ed Harris as John McCain.

KOST, KFI tied in radio ratings

KOST-FM (103.5), whose listenership soared in December because of its all-Christmas music format, fell back to earth with the resumption of its regular soft-rock playlist in January — still finishing No. 1, but tied this time with talk station KFI-AM (640), and with about 1 million fewer people tuning in each week.

The Arbitron ratings service reported that both stations averaged a 4.8% market share between Jan. 5 and Feb. 1, a boost for KFI, which had posted 4.5% in December, but a huge drop for KOST, which had garnered 8.5% of the listening audience in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

Filling out the Top 10 for the month were KIIS-FM (102.7) at No. 3, KBIG-FM (104.3) and KPWR-FM (105.9) tied for No. 4, KAMP-FM (97.1) and KLVE-FM (107.5) tied for No. 6, KHHT-FM (92.3) and KSCA-FM (101.9) tied for No. 8 and KRTH-FM (101.1) at No. 10.

Adele adds to her trophy case

Soulful songstress Adele capped a momentous year

of triumph and medical woes with a double win at the Brit music awards in London Tuesday, taking prizes for album of the year and best British female solo artist.

Adele’s sophomore album, “21,” won six Grammys last week and has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States alone. But the 23-year-old singer also had to undergo vocal cord surgery in November to fix a potentially career-threatening throat condition.

“It’s been an amazing year,” Adele said as she received the female artist statuette. She thanked her record company “for letting me be the kind of artist I want to be.”

Other Brit awards went to Bruno Mars (international male solo artist), Rihanna (international female artist), Coldplay (best British group) and Foo Fighters (international band).

Sheen tells Kutcher sorry

Charlie Sheen is extending the olive branch to Ashton Kutcher.

In an interview last week, Sheen was critical of “Two and a Half Men,” the sitcom from which he was fired last year, and of Kutcher, who replaced him on the CBS series last fall.

But now he’s issued an apology, saying, “I was disrespectful of a man doing his best. I got excited and threw [him] into a crossfire. The rest of my statement I stand behind.”

Cast change: Ben Heppner, who sat out Tuesday’s performance in “Moby-Dick” at the San Diego Opera because of illness, also will miss the remaining shows on Friday and Sunday, the company said. Jay Hunter Morris will replace him as Captain Ahab.

One more thing: The estate of late actor Peter Falk, who was best known for his lead role in “Columbo,” donated $3 million to UCLA to provide scholarships for students who are studying music, have disabilities or are military veterans.
