Golden Globes sets January date for 2013 ceremony
It is never too early to start planning that awards-season calendar: The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. just announced the Golden Globes will take place Jan. 13.
That date puts the Globes just ahead of the Jan. 15 announcement of nominations for the Academy Awards. The shift should free up the Globes show and all of its affiliated parties from running afoul of recent changes to the academy’s rulebook, which were designed to restrict campaign events in the post-nominations window for the Oscars.
The HFPA will announce nominations for the Golden Globes on Dec. 13.
