Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill eyeing Coen brothers’ ‘Hail Caesar!’

Joel and Ethan Coen’s upcoming drama “Hail, Caesar!” is shaping up to be a veritable constellation of stars, with Scarlett Johansson and Jonah Hill emerging as the latest names attached to the project.

Variety first reported that Johansson is in talks to join George Clooney and Josh Brolin in the 1950s-set story about a fixer who works for the Hollywood studios to keep their stars out of trouble.

Johansson would play an actress who unexpectedly becomes pregnant as her film is about to start shooting, the report says. Incidentally, Johansson herself is currently expecting a child. (She is engaged to Romain Dauriac.)

If Johansson does land the role, it would mark her second time working with the Coens, the first being the 2001 neo-noir “The Man Who Wasn’t There.”

“Hail, Caesar!” could also serve as another reunion, for “22 Jump Street” stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. Tatum has already been in talks for the film in recent weeks, along with Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton. Now, according to the Wrap, Hill is also in negotiations to come aboard the film for an unknown role.

The Coens are directing “Hail, Caesar!” for Universal from their own original script, which they’ve been tinkering with for several years. Production is to begin in the fall.
