Red Hot Chili Peppers postpone an upcoming Burbank show after their singer’s illness
After the hospitalization of lead singer Anthony Kiedis, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have postponed a second show, following a last-minute cancellation Saturday.
“Due to Anthony Kiedis’ hospitalization from complications from the intestinal flu, the Red Hot Chili Peppers regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio” on Tuesday, a statement released on the band’s website said.
The Tuesday gig was slated to take place in Burbank at the iHeartRadio Theater. Hosted by Harms, the event was going to be the band’s release party for its album “The Getaway,” due in June.
The group was set to headline in Orange County at radio station KROQ’s annual Weenie Roast, held at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.
The Associated Press said that Flea, the group’s bassist, told the crowd that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be unable to perform and that Kiedis was on his way to a hospital for medical reasons.
According to the statement on its website, the band is extending thanks to its fans, who have been wishing Kiedis well.
Kiedis is expected to make a full recovery soon, the statement said.
