4 L.A. bands mount Dec. 6 Paisley Underground reunion benefit

Check your watches, Los Angeles: The clock’s about to strike 1982.

Early-1980s rock scene regulars the Bangles, the Three O’Clock, Dream Syndicate and Rain Parade will come together for a Dec. 6 Paisley Underground reunion concert in Hollywood benefiting public music education programs in Los Angeles.

The term Paisley Underground, which encompassed several ‘80s bands influenced by the psychedelic movement of the ‘60s, has been credited to Michael Quercio, lead singer and bassist for the Three O’Clock. Individually all four groups have played shows in the Southland in recent years, but this is the first time they’ll all be on the same bill.

Dream Syndicate leader and songwriter Steve Wynn posted a photo on his Facebook page Tuesday showing two members of the Three O’Clock, and two members of the Bangles, with the message, “Can’t wait.”

Tickets go on sale Saturday through this link at AXS.com. The four bands also will play a day earlier at the Fillmore in San Francisco.

The beneficiary of proceeds from the Dec. 6 concert at the Fonda Theatre is Education Through Music–Los Angeles, which “promotes and provides music in disadvantaged schools as part of the core curriculum in order to enhance students’ academic achievement and creative and overall development. The organization partners with low-income area elementary and middle schools that lack the resources for a schoolwide music program, and collaborates with school and district leaders to customize a high-quality, sequential music program serving each child for the entire year.”
