Art Garfunkel joins ‘Black Simon & Garfunkel’ on Jimmy Fallon

Black Simon & Garfunkel surfaced again Wednesday night on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” this time singing a delicate acoustic folk version of the Weeknd’s hit “Can’t Feel My Face” for which the duo became a trio with a surprise appearance by Art Garfunkel.

The twosome — actually the Roots’ Questlove and “Captain” Kirk Douglas, outfitted in black turtlnecks — reverently sang a chunk of the song before Garfunkel arrived, eliciting cheers and squeals from the audience.

The song briefly segued into a “lie-la-lie” section at the end, echoing the signature vamp from Simon & Garfunkel’s 1968 hit “The Boxer.”

The skit has been a periodic feature on Fallon’s late-night shows since 2009. They’ve also reworked au courant hits, all mashed up with “The Boxer,” including Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” and Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.”

Garfunkel’s cameo now makes two recent late-night live appearances — separately — by the members of the Grammy-winning duo formed in the 1960s.

Paul Simon joined Stephen Colbert during the opening week of his new job as host of CBS’ “The Late Show,” ostensibly as part of Troubled Waters, promoted ahead of the performance as “the world’s greatest Paul Simon tribute band.”

They sang Simon’s solo hit “Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard.”
