Robin Finck rejoins Nine Inch Nails ahead of summer tour
Two days after Eric Avery revealed in a Facebook post that he’d left the band in order to “focus on my musical life here in L.A.,” Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails announced Friday that Robin Finck had rejoined the influential industrial-rock group.
The guitarist has toured and recorded with Nine Inch Nails at various points over the last two decades, including on the 2008 album “The Slip” and during the so-called NIN/JA tour in 2009 with Jane’s Addiction. Finck has also played as a member of Guns N’ Roses.
“The addition of Robin to the mix of players I’ve assembled makes this band incredibly powerful and versatile,” Reznor wrote in a Tumblr post. “We are deep in the rehearsal process and it feels exciting and great to be back at this.”
Beyond Reznor and Finck, Nine Inch Nails currently features Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin and King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew.
The band is to kick off a tour -- its first since Reznor revived the group earlier this year following a hiatus -- on July 26 at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival; other dates include Lollapalooza in Chicago on Aug. 2, Britain’s Reading Festival on Aug. 25 and the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans in November.
