Taylor Swift ties record for most sold-out shows at Staples Center
Taylor Swift has brought her Red tour to Los Angeles, and beyond the fact that she’s returning to the city where she’s spent considerable quality time onstage, in the studio and just hanging out, Swift’s stint at Staples Center this week has earned her a special distinction.
When she closes out her fourth sold-out show at the arena Saturday, she’ll claim the record for the solo artist with the most sellouts at Staples, with 11.
Following her opening show tonight, Aug. 19, she’ll surpass Madonna and Justin Timberlake, who each have logged seven sellouts at the arena, and she’ll top Britney Spears’ previous record of eight sellouts with Tuesday’s concert.

After Saturday, she’ll be tied with Latin pop group Mana for the most overall sellouts, with 11, for which she’s being feted Tuesday afternoon by Staples Senior Vice President and General Manager Lee Zeidman and officials from Red tour promoter the Messina Group.
The ceremony will be attended by 20 college students who are taking part in the Recording Academy’s GrammyU program, and they’ll also get to drop in on her afternoon soundcheck and receive a backstage tour.
Swift’s “Red” album has sold almost 3.8 million copies since it was released last fall.
