The Weeknd, Skrillex, Nicki Minaj set for first Billboard Hot 100 festival
Billboard is stepping into the festival market.
The Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival will set up at New York’s Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 22 and 23.
The two-day festival, produced by the industry trade publication in partnership with Live Nation, will boast three stages and feature more than 40 acts.
Alternative R&B singer the Weeknd, EDM superstar Skrillex and Young Money stars Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne will headline the festival, according to the lineup revealed Friday.
Kygo, Jason Derulo, Betty Who, the Chainsmokers, Fetty Wap, Kiesza, Little Mix, Santigold, IloveMakonnen, Ryn Weaver, X Ambassadors, MKTO, Natalie La Rose and ZZ Ward are among the 40 performers booked for the inaugural festival.
Justin Bieber is billed as a special guest performer (whatever that means).
“The Hot 100 Music Festival will be one of those truly memorable summer concert events. We are very excited to bring fans some of summer 2015’s chart toppers in a venue that will showcase the best these artists have to offer,” Live Nation President and Chief Executive Michael Rapino told Billboard.
Tickets go on sale to the general public July 16 through Live Nation.
